A cheeky book to entertain and celebrate the beautifully strange humans that flock to Muscle Beach, California.
About
During my time co-oping in Los Angeles, I was inspired enough by the people of this public beachside gym to write a book about them for my Print Design I class. In my research and photo collecting, I came to the conclusion that the style and the copy had to reflect the bright, chaotic, and crass nature of the place and people. The title, Meatheads: The Shithole that is Muscle Beach, California, sparked and inspired the attitude for the rest of the book.
Bright popping red and orange, crude section titles and copy, hilarious Yelp reviews as introduction section quotes, and strange collaged patterns & compositions, all work together to take readers on a journey through the history and stories of Muscle Beach.
